Overview
The context
30 November 2022. A bomb was dropped, one that promised to reshape the tech industry and the way the whole world would function. ChatGPT went live, and from that point forward, it was history.
Similarly to all the greatest breakthroughs of the past century, the public launch of this new type of Large Language Model shook the foundations of our time.
It was silent at first, but it didn’t take too long before this revolutionary technology was on everyone’s lips and under everyone’s fingertips. A new era had begun, and I – like anyone else around – soon had to deal with its implications.
Discovery
Once the commercial launch of this LLM chat revealed the true potential of the technology behind it, our client and largest Italian bank asked us to help them explore how it could streamline their operations. We identified a key area of work and kicked off a series of discussions and interviews to define the problems and outline the scope of the initiative.
The opportunity
The bank's "inheritance division" was selected as the first test case. Inheritance specialists typically relied on dense physical manuals or scattered digital resources to find information. This was a slow and inefficient process, especially when advising clients during live consultations.
Adding a GenAI chat would simplify this: instant access to relevant knowledge, faster interactions, and reduced cognitive load for the advisors.
Our goal
Delivering a GenAI-powered chat, trained on relevant inheritance content, with a user experience tailored to the specific needs of inheritance banking specialists. The UX will be intuitive, efficient, and seamlessly integrated into their workflow.

The outcome
In under two months, we defined, designed, and shipped a fully functional MVP, immediately integrated into the client’s workflow. Iterative improvements and user feedback led to enhanced versions and additional GenAI-powered chats, each tailored to different strategic areas of the bank.

Takeaways
Identifying real user needs early was key to delivering a fast and effective solution.
While GenAI might seem like a one-size-fits-all tool, this project proved otherwise: even simple interactions can vary across user groups and require tailored UX to meet their specific needs.
Each variation of LegacyAI addressed different topics and areas of expertise, and it was listening to our end users that ultimately drove real impact.
